        Do you recommend taking the insurance companies initial offer?

        Answer:

        If you’re injured in a bus accident, oftentimes, you will receive an initial offer. Clients come to us and say they’ve already been doing their own negotiating and that they have received an offer of a certain amount of money. They want to know whether they should take it. We generally advise them, as a rule of thumb, that the first offer is normally not going to be the best offer.

        What we would then do is take on the case. We would make sure to evaluate what the injuries were, how the accident happened, and how long they’ve been disabled or out of work. We would also look at what type of medical treatment they required or if they had surgery. They, we would give our fair and honest assessment of what that case is worth. What we often find after we make our assessment is that our assessment is generally higher than that first offer. As a general rule, the first offer is not the best offer and generally should not be accepted.
