Information regarding changes to court operations due to Covid-19

Surrogate’s Court has jurisdiction over actions and proceedings of decedents, including the probate of wills, intestate estates, small estates, ancillary proceedings, disputed claims, discovery proceedings, accountings, wrongful death compromise and settlement actions, inter vivos and testamentary trusts, as well as guardianship proceedings of person and/or property of infants and Article 17A.

Records of decedents and guardianships are on file from 1835 and are available to the public for viewing and copying. Some records are on microfiche and are available for viewing and copying.

All visitors must pass through a magnetometer upon entering the courthouse.
