If you’re a passenger on a bus and the bus is involved in an accident, there are a couple of things you should do immediately. One of the things you want to do is you want to make sure you know the bus number and route that you’re on. You also want to try to get the name of the driver. The next thing you need to do, if you’re injured, is you need to get immediate medical treatment, whether that involves an ambulance ride to the hospital or a family member taking you to the hospital. You need to get that injury diagnosed right away and get treatment right away in order to try to get better. Next, you need to follow through on your medical treatment to make sure that your injury is being taken care of.

Finally, you need to contact us. What we would do is send out our investigator. We’ll talk to people and get statements from other people on the bus. We’ll try to find out the names of the witnesses and get statements from them and from the bus driver. We’ll try to get a statement from any other drivers, too. If there was another driver involved, such as someone driving an automobile and somebody driving a bus, we’ll try to get a statement from those people.

What we want to do is try to preserve that evidence. We want to try to get that information as quickly as we can to make sure that it doesn’t disappear or get lost. Memories fade, so we it’s often difficult to gather statements at a later time.
