How do I determine the value of my pedestrian accident claim in Buffalo?

A lot of people come into our office and they’ve been seriously injured by a car. A car struck them as they were crossing the street. They’ve had some initial treatment, and they want to know how much their case is worth. This is a very fair question. In order to be honest with the client, we have to tell them it really depends on the nature and extent of the injuries. With some injuries, you can determine right off the bat what the healing is going to be and how long it’s going to take to recover. In those scenarios, you’ll be able to give them, when they come in initially, what the value of their case is. Other cases are much more severe.
A lot of the cases that we handle are people dealing with devastating injuries. They’re rushed to the ICU, and then are in the hospital for a number of days. They then go to rehab for days, weeks, or months and are out of work for a very long period of time. Until we know the full extent of their treatment and recovery, we can’t honestly tell somebody how much their case is worth.
Having done this for 40 years, however, we can have some idea, and we know the information that you have to get in order to do the proper evaluation. After we have all the information, we are good at being able to give somebody an idea what the value of their case is worth.
