Most lawsuits against the Catholic diocese in New York have ended in settlement.
There have been settlements all across New York State against the various Catholic dioceses. There had been a settlement of $1.5 million against the Buffalo diocese in 2016 for a teenager that was abused by a priest. In Rochester, there was a total of $1.6 million in settlements for 20 children that were abused by priests. Additionally, the Rockville Centre New York diocese has offered between $25,000 and $50,000 to 221 children who have been abused. Four men in Brooklyn recovered $27.5 million against the Brooklyn diocese for abuse by a priest. And lastly, the New York diocese has paid $60 million so far to 278 victims.
