Question:
What does it cost to pursue a dog bite lawsuit in Buffalo?
Answer:
If you’ve been bitten by a dog and have some pretty serious injuries and/or scars, eventually we’ll get around to a discussion about legal fees. What we will tell you is there are no legal fees that are due upfront. In other words, it’s not like other types of legal services where you take out your credit card or your checkbook and pay us a fee. These cases are handled on what’s called a contingency basis.
What that means is that, if for some reason there’s no recovery, you would not owe us anything. If there was a recovery, you would then owe us a percentage of that recovery. In the Western New York area, and actually all of New York state, that recovery is generally one-third of the recovery. Our legal fees would be one-third of the total amount that we recovered. Again, if there was no recovery, then you would not owe us anything.
