Home health aide accused of stealing $60,000 faces legal action

Alpha Harris, a former home health aide from Greece, is facing legal action for allegedly stealing over $60,000 from a 90-year-old client in Pittsford. In addition to the theft, Harris is accused of fraudulently applying for a home mortgage in the client’s name. The elderly client, Hilda McLeod, had no surviving family and relied on Harris for care. McLeod’s attorneys claim that Harris exploited her vulnerability, causing emotional distress. Court documents reveal that McLeod, who suffers from dementia, provided a $16,000 down payment for Harris’s current home, where McLeod is listed as a co-owner despite never having been inside. McLeod and her attorneys are seeking the sale of the house at a public auction to pay off the mortgage and alleviate McLeod’s financial burden. Harris is scheduled for arraignment in Pittsford Town Court on criminal charges.
